Return of the Legend: Ulsan HD Appoint ‘Mr. Ulsan’ Kim Hyun-seok as New Head coach

Ulsan HD FC has officially announced the appointment of Kim Hyun-seok as the club’s 14th head coach. A true legend of the club, Kim is famously known as a “One-Club Man” who wore the Ulsan jersey for 12 seasons (excluding a brief stint with Verdy Kawasaki in 2000) and played a pivotal role in bringing the club its very first championship trophy.

Coach Kim brings recent tactical success to the role. In 2024, he led Chungnam Asan FC to a historic K League 2 runner-up finish and a spot in the promotion-relegation playoffs. Following that, he spent this past season managing Jeonnam Dragons.

In his inaugural statement, Kim acknowledged the weight of expectations. “I will gather all my experiences—both successes and failures—to help rebuild my home team,” Kim stated. “I am aware that there is more concern than expectation, but this is a mission I must accomplish. I will ensure that the 12 seasons I spent here in Ulsan do not go to waste”.
